I’m writing this guide while booking the Airbnb for my sister’s bachelorette in Montecito — which finally pushed me to finish it. SB peak season runs now through October, so the timing feels right.

There truly is no place like Santa Barbara. It really earns the name “the American Riviera.” Every time I’m home, I think: Why did I ever leave? It’s where the Pacific Ocean meets the mountains, and there’s nothing else like it.

Growing up, Santa Barbara was so different from what it is now — though that seems to be the case everywhere I’ve lived, from Coconut Grove to, more recently, the Upper East Side.

Santa Barbara was always a sleepy beach town — an insanely beautiful one that I took completely for granted. I went to tiny Catholic schools my whole life, graduating high school with a class of 60-something. SB felt like a bubble I couldn’t wait to escape. So I left, and landed in Miami, Connecticut, and eventually New York.

Now, having lived through very different seasons of life and starting to settle down and grow my own family, I find myself missing that little bubble — especially during cold winter months. The grass is always greener they say.

I’ve been wanting to go to Mexico City forever, and because my birthday was coming up it felt like the perfect excuse to finally make the trip happen-honestly the best gift!

We only had 2 days in Mexico City before heading to the beach, so we really tried to do the most with every hour- and by the end of it we were equal parts exhausted and had seen so much of the city in such a short amount of time.

I want to start by commending the PB community - it is strong. It’s such a tight-knit one, but not in a bad way. It’s an open-hearted community that welcomes you wholeheartedly, even if you’re only there as a snowbird. I think Millie had more friends than I did, to be honest!

My nanny still, to this day, messages the other nannies who were heartbroken to hear that we chose to rent in Miami this winter instead. So far, Miami has so much more to offer in terms of food and things to do, but the community here isn’t the same. Not to say that I haven’t met wonderful moms and made friends while here, but there are simply more options. Thus, you need to be more purposeful and deliberate with your plans and with whom you choose to spend time.

Since moving uptown we have discovered a whole new world! Before having Millie, our life centered around always checking out the latest hot spots which mostly kept me in a downtown orbit. Nowadays life looks a little different, not to say that we don’t venture downtown anymore but we are mostly sticking uptown for meals - given we live here now and can finally just walk into places !!

I think this city is as chic as Paris and London in terms of fashion and the people-watching. So I made Chase cut Mallorca short by one night in order to fulfill my shopping desires and study abroad nostalgia.

We were only here for one night on the way back from Spain. We could have easily flown back to NYC directly from Mallorca, which would have made our travel much easier with bebe in tow, but I wanted to visit the city I fell in love with… from that one time I studied abroad. Sorry, not sorry. It’s true!

If I could go to Italy every summer, I would. It’s something we find ourselves doing over and over and visiting new places and parts of the country. This year, we are going to be going to Florence, Umbria and the Dolomites so I cannot wait to show you all the places we discover.

Where to begin…I love Miami. It’s such an easy place to pop over from NYC for a quick weekend getaway during the winter season. A crowd pleaser with friends, an amazing beach and a good time. We love it so much but I don’t know if enough to live there full time. Who knows, maybe! The food is at least better than PB, but NYC is better (and so is the service lol).
